WooCommerce Peptide Payment Gateway: Setup, Plugins and Compliance
WooCommerce is the natural home for peptide stores because it allows any gateway. How to connect a high-risk merchant account, what the plugin must do, and the WooCommerce-specific compliance details underwriters check.
Why WooCommerce suits peptide merchants
WooCommerce imposes no payment-provider policy of its own. Any gateway with a WooCommerce plugin, or a hosted-page integration, can be used, which is why most established research peptide suppliers run on it. The platform is not the constraint; the acquirer is. Once a high-risk merchant account is approved, connecting it to WooCommerce is usually a day's work.
Connecting a high-risk merchant account
- Merchant account approved. The acquiring partner issues a merchant ID and gateway credentials after underwriting (see the peptide merchant accounts page).
- Install the gateway plugin. Partner gateways provide WooCommerce plugins supporting hosted fields or iframe card entry, saved cards via tokens, refunds and partial refunds from the order screen, and webhook status updates.
- Configure fraud controls. Enforce AVS and CVV, set velocity limits, enable 3-D Secure for non-US cards, and geo-block restricted states and countries at both shipping and payment level.
- Set the descriptor. Confirm the billing descriptor in the gateway matches the brand on the site and the receipt email.
- Add secondary methods. ACH/eCheck, bank transfer and crypto as separate payment methods on the same checkout, so a card decline does not lose the order.
- Test end to end. Sandbox authorisation, capture, refund and dispute webhook before go-live.
WooCommerce details underwriters notice
- Checkout terms acceptance. A mandatory checkbox linking to terms and refund policy, not just a footer link.
- Business-buyer fields. Company name, intended use attestation and, for some acquirers, account approval before first order. These support the research-use-only position.
- Product data. True compound names, purity, format and storage in the product fields; no dosing or protocol content in descriptions, attributes or FAQs.
- Coupons and bundles. Consumer-style promotions ("buy 3 get 1 free", countdown timers) contradict a B2B research position and are flagged in review.
- Plugins that leak intent. Reviews plugins with "results" content, affiliate plugins promoting to consumers, and reconstitution calculators all reclassify the business.
- Security basics. HTTPS everywhere, updated WordPress and WooCommerce, no card data stored in the database, PCI SAQ A scope maintained via hosted fields.
Running two merchant accounts on WooCommerce
A second gateway plugin or an orchestration layer allows routing between two merchant accounts: by amount, by card country, or as an automatic retry on decline. For a category where a single policy change can close an account, this is the single most valuable configuration after the first approval. KLAUDE sets it up where a second acquirer is available for the profile — see payment orchestration.
Before you connect anything
None of this matters if the merchant account is declined. The free readiness review checks a WooCommerce store against the thirteen points underwriters read — entity details, policies, descriptor, claims, checkout — and tells you what to fix first.

Questions
Which WooCommerce payment plugin works for peptides?
The one certified by the acquirer that approves you. Plugin choice follows the merchant account, not the other way round. KLAUDE confirms the options once the acquiring route is known.
Can I keep Stripe for non-peptide products on the same WooCommerce store?
No. Stripe's policy applies to the whole account and store; mixing is treated as evasion. Separate the businesses fully or move everything to the high-risk account.
Do I need a PCI audit for WooCommerce?
With hosted fields or a hosted page you remain in SAQ A scope and complete a self-assessment questionnaire; a formal audit is not required at typical volumes.
